Online Shopping - The Hoover of Fashion!

Online shopping websites are like a hoover; fantastic but suck you right in! There's adverts for stores such as New Look and Missguided EVERYWHERE on the internet - fantastic marketing strategy and great for business but not so great for my bank balance:P Even on YouTube, there'll be beautiful play-suits popping up on the side at such good prices that I have no choice but to click imminently.

This one teeny tiny click leads to dozens, even hundreds of other clicks! This is the point when you are gathered and squashed up with all the other specks of dust in the hoover and there's no escape because if you're anything like me - you have NO SELF CONTROL. Anyway, I'm sure you know what happens next...

Luckily, recently I have been restraining myself and it has taken much will power to not order anything. However, that hasn't stopped me looking, oh not at all. What I've done instead is pin the items I think i desperately need to my tabs on Google Chrome and then I can look at them whenever I like, so I never have to have one of those scary thoughts just before I fall asleep about how I may never ever find that item ever again.

Of course, my pinned tabs start to take over my entire Chrome bar and that's a sign that I need to calm down and have a quick yoga moment. So I look through the tabs again, at least 5 times and think to myself - "do I really want this? Do I have anything similar? Will it look good on me?" and many, many other questions. I do this mainly because a dress that I once thought was the bee's knee's ends up being disliked by me in the near future.

I currently have 10 things on tab, clearly I need that yoga moment right after I finish writing this:P The moral behind this blog post is don't rush into anything (unless Chanel or Dior decide to have the best sale ever, online only and everything is under £50 then rush, fast) and do something similar to what I do, in tabs, add links to your favourites, make notes of the style number and after a few days, look again and really consider why you want it so bad? Can you buy it in store instead?

Of course, there's always a justification for buying clothes, accessories and shoes! But make sure it's financially justifiable!

I hope you enjoyed this blog post, what are your thoughts on online shopping?

It shouldn't go...BUT IT DOES! - Pattern Clashing

This is something that would be frowned upon usually in the world of fashion, but now it is acceptable. I was scrolling down my Pinterest the other day and I stumbled across this picture of a very lovely outfit.

Even the colours on the two different pattern go, the blue even clashes but there's something so pretty and unique about this outfit that makes me want to buy it! I love the idea of patterned jeans to start, I feel it's a really fun and quirky way of wearing the timeless clothing item. This pair in particular is so pretty and is perfect for spring time when it isn't quite warm enough to wear shorts, but you want to feel floral and spring-like!

Then there's the shirt which really relaxes the outfit as it's just worn loose without being tucked in, avoiding any real structure which gives the outfit a more chilled vibe. The stripes make this look extremely on trend due to the nauticality (new word:P) and the colours are quite soft which I really love.

I love how this person has gone for the same nude/gold tones with the accessories as you don't need anything major for the accessories with this pattern combination. Personally, I wouldn't wear so much on my wrists, maybe one of the bracelets but it really is down to personal preference with accessories - and a bit of trends come into it of course!

To round this post up, I hope to find something similar to this on the high street and feel confident to wear clashing patterns this spring and summer. I feel it's already becoming a trend this season and I hope to see more outfits like this soon because sometimes, it's okay to break the rules of traditional fashion!

What are your thoughts on pattern clashing?
