Top 3 Albums

Something different today, this is a post about music which is probably my biggest passion in life so i hope you don't mind me discussing it this week.

So my 3rd favourite album is Royal Blood's Album with their debut album - Royal Blood. The concept of using a Bass as a guitar rather than a guitar as a bass creates a fantastic sound against the drummer. Despite the fact that there are only two instruments it creates and incredible sound and pays a great tribute to Rock music. My favourite song is Little Monster which has amazing guitar riffs that force you into doing the air guitar unfortunately. They performed at the BRITS this year and were phenomenal (click here) and they even won the Best British Group and were nominated for a BBC Music Award this year.

2nd is Years & Years' long awaited debut album, Communion. In spite of the fact that I love rock, this band are very very good live even though they're an Electronica Trio, they manage to perform live and be entertaining unlike some bands that have proven disappointing (Jungle and Disclosure if I'm honest). You must've heard the hits 'King' and 'Desire' that many people loved. Their music makes me want to dance all the time and they've definitely nailed the modern electronica feel. My favourite songs from the album are 'Take Shelter' and 'Shine'.

The winner and my eternal love is Catfish & the Bottlemen with their album 'The Balcony'. There are no words to describe my love for this album, It's the first album I've ever listened to where I adore every single song. They've had an incredible year from playing at Reading & Leeds Festival last year, winning at the BBC Music Awards in 2014, getting 'Cocoon' on Fifa, filling in for Sam Smth at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend and playing their first ever Glastonbury the other week. I feel they will be huge, absolutely huge. They're such hard workers and love what they do. They deserve every success that they get and what's to come. Have a listen to Pacifier and Tyrants for their best songs live and and listen to the whole album on Spotify (to follow me my username is cerys.myfanwy).

Pastel on Pastel

Back to fashion this week, and here's an outfit post for you. Instead of colour blocking I thought I'd try a softer approach by pairing a blue shift dress from Toshop (old but the white version is in the SALE) with pastel pink pumps from Missguided (in the SALE for only £11!).

I've always loved the feminine pastels with clean and sophisticated lines like this dress and the studs of the shoes introduce a contrast of elegance and edge.

Now, the bag. I don't know how to explain why I paired it with the outfit because in theory it probably makes no sense. However there seems to be something stylish about the sudden odd and bold clash of the patent red with all the colours mixing and matching by Vivienne Westwood that it just works.

I hope you enjoyed today's post and that you like the outfit and that your week is going well.

What to Pack: Summer Holiday!

As today is officially the last day of the school year for most schools which means a lot of you will be going on holiday, maybe even abroad and this is what i pack for a holiday abroad in Mallorca.

The first things I take, which most would take are at least two books. I'm not a total bookworm I'll admit, however I do love to read on holiday by the pool or even just before bed to help me sleep which is what I do even when at home anyway. I've read a few of the Shopaholic Series and I started 'Shopaholic & Baby' a few years ago then I stupidly lost it. So when it was on offer at Tescos along with 'You Had me at Hello' which was highly recommended by mum, I had to get it again. Sophie Kinsella is a brilliant writer who manages to make me laugh a lot! Another favourite of mine is the new one 'Shopaholic to the Stars' - it's hilarious.

I hate having to decide between clutch bags with outfits so to avoid this I only pack one that goes with everything and that is a good size. This is a vintage Diesel clutch and it's rectangular and thin which looks sleek as I don't carry much anyway - I just love the look of a simple big clutch with an outfit.

Now what goes in it: 1. Body tape. I hate wearing a bra on holiday, especially in a hot country it's just too uncomfortable so body tape is a great solution to make sure your clothes stick to your body and don't gape and if it's a thin material it helps cover areas that need covering :P. You can find these for next to nothing on Ebay.

2. Tinted Vaseline for an easy way to give a little colour and it makes your lips super soft. I've used this one for so long and it's my favourite out of the collection - 10/10

3. Lip Gloss and this one from LancĂ´me is to die for. The colour is a Pinky Nude and gives a lovely shine and feels incredible on the lips. The biggest plus is that it doesn't stick to your hair which is always an issue. The colour I have is Rose Ballet and it's just stunning.

This may seem obvious, but I'm being more specific than just a sandal. These sandals are from New Look and are real leather (psst there are other colours available that are in the sale for £9!). They're very pretty and exotic and can be worn day or night which is essential on keeping your packing to a minimum. Too many sandals will take up too much space so having a nice pair that will last as they are of a better material is worth it so they can be worn out for a market shop and a comfy night out at a restaurant.

The final major item I pack is a stellar, stand out dress that is that bit more special than your other dresses. this was actually my prom dress but I'm ready to wear it several more times as it's gorgeous. There's only a teaser picture in this post as it will be featured in a lookbook soon. However it's from Missguided

I hope you all enjoy your Summer and let me know if you're going away somewhere this season!

My New Puppy

Sitting across from me right now, sunbathing is an adorable Jackachon (Jack Russel/Bichon Frise) with big black eyes and a freckle above her little black nose. This is our 10 week old puppy called Cookie.

I know this is a little different but who doesn't want to see pictures of a cute puppy? I hope you enjoy these pictures and if you have a puppy/dog then you can do a response blog post to this one and comment the link down below for everyone to see. Ciao for now!

Affordable Summertime Essentials

As we are midsummer and I know lots of people are going away on holiday or having a 'stayccation', I thought I'd share what my inexpensive summer essentials are so that if you're doing any last minute shopping you can stay on budget as I know not everyone can afford high end items. Nearly everything on this list is in the Sale so get ready to pounce!

The first essential for me is definitely these Ribbed Cami Tops from Topshop. I've been wearing their crop tops to death and so went back to Topshop in search for a slightly different style and colour and these are so inexpensive - only £6 each or 2 for £10. They're a basic so are easy to style and are very serene. You really can't go wrong, especially with such a variety of colours.

I certainly don't know much about beauty but I know when something looks good, lasts and is efficient. This Lip Butter by Collection fits the bill. I physically can't delve too much into detail because I haven't enough knowledge but I know that it's very build-able, easy to apply and the Vintage Rose shade is a lovely tint for the summertime.

The next essential for me are an item I bought several months ago and have worn a great deal of them for 3 reasons; comfort, practicality and style. They're the classic Slip-on Vans but with an avant-garde flourish. They're honestly so comfortable and go with everything and you can wear them everywhere - definitely worth the money. They are now on SALE at ASOS.

The final two go hand in hand and they are The Body Shop.... Rasberry Body Scrub & Body Butter.  They certainly live up to The Body Shop's reputation; they both leave your skin feeling incredibly soft and the smell stays for a long time. The Rasberry smells like Cherry Bakewells...but better. So if you're more into chocolate smells I highly recommend the Chocomania Body Butter & Body Scrub. These are all 50% off so if you buy the scrub and the body butter, you're getting 2 for the original price of 1.

Hope you enjoyed today's post - leave any suggestions down below!

Back to the Future

You may be puzzled as to how a fashion blog links to science fiction? Well, truthfully, there is no real link here other than the fact that science surrounds us, as does fashion. This is one of my favourite outfits and fortunately the clothes were all bough fairly recently and are still available for you to buy.

If we start from the top down; this beautiful 70's blouse is from Miss Selfridge and is just so elegant yet very boho and dilettante (although not very festival appropriate as it's white and I think we all know British festivals don't welcome this colour with open arms). This is a gorgeous piece that I feel I'll get a lot of wear out of and if you're lucky to be tall enough or happen to look fabulous in floral flares, this would be a great accompaniment to hit the trend.

I decided to pair it with the timeless Denim Skirt from Urban Outfitters which although timeless certainly has a 60's influence to it with its A-Line fit. I love the fit of this as it widens my hips a little which I like to do. If you don't want to emphasise or widen your hips then I suggest choosing a skater style skirt to help slim your hips if that's what you wish.

To contrast with the reverse of fashion, I chose to wear these modernistic Holographic Heeled Sandals from ASOS. They're comfy and are a very quick way to dress up and outfit. Despite this, as they are a subtle holographic shoe in the 'Barely There' style, these look great with jeans rolled up for a more casual vibe. The heel is very low, almost a kitten heel which I know a lot of people dislike so if you'd prefer a higher heel here's a similar pair.

The flower crown I'm wearing at the top of this post was from Primark a year ago, but here's a similar one (that's ON SALE!)

I hope you enjoyed today's post and that the mix of classic and current is to your taste. Keep your eyes peeled for the next post on Tuesday!
